In early June, AARR was notified that there was a loose rabbit in Forest Park, Queens. 15 minutes later, she was getting a nail trim right there on a park bench. She was obviously unwanted and set free. Her nails were extremely long and she had sore hocks...both signs of neglect. Dumping a domestic animal is a crime in NYC, and there is no excuse when there is a city shelter. We named her Sherrie and believe her to be about 5 years of age.
Sherrie is sweet and friendly despite being betrayed by humans. She has even made friends with a couple of the neutered male fosters and enjoys playing with them during out time. We feel she would make a good partner to a single rabbit. Though she can be bossy, she is never aggressive.
